When I was in Omaha, I was a part of something very special. A place called Hot Shops Art Center. Hot Shops is a 100+ year old Serta mattress factory converted into four galleries, 40 art studios and 80 studio artists. The anchor studios are a glassblower, a ceramicist, and an ironworks forge, thus the name.
I had a studio there for two years, which was no time at all compared to most of the artists - once you have a studio in Hot Shops, you dig in your heels and hang on tight!
It was magical, to be influenced by all the art you passed every day...the smells, the sounds, the spirit of the place. I got great joy from critiques of my works-
